31 Days of PINK {Day 1}

After a little thought {well...actually A LOT of deep thought}, I've decided to link up and take part in the 31 Days of... Challenge/Series/Torture...whatever you want to call it!

To sum it up, a fantastic set of the 8 original 31 days bloggers are continuing the tradition and vowing to write about ONE topic every single day for the entire month of October. They've asked their blogging readers to take the same vow and write about a topic of their choice every day too! We'll be linking our first posts together, and you can wander around the link party at your own will. In fact, we HOPE you'll come on over and be inspired!

Coming up with an interesting topic {that I thought I could seriously have enough material to write about for 31 days straight} took some real pondering for me, but when the idea finally came, "I just knew"! Ya know?!

 October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it's a time of celebration for our family. While breast cancer never leaves our minds, October represents a little more. It's like a super duper long BIRTHDAY party {month of celebration}. You see, breast cancer has touched our family. It touched my beautiful Aunt Cyndi, and in doing so, changed ALL of us. She survived. She thrived. She bloomed. Not only was her strength an inspiration to us, but her poise and wisdom radiated off of her. It still does. The dreaded C word may have paralyzed us for a bit, but I strongly feel we are all better people because of the countless lessons it taught us. We are truly blessed. Each day is a gift, and we will no longer take a moment of it for granted. I actually, in a strange way, thank cancer for that...

Aunt Cyn, I am dedicating my entire "31 Days of PINK" series to YOU!

Each day, I will be showcasing pink decor. It could be an entire room. It may be just a simple household item or product, or it might be a pink event. Either way, as I search daily for these exceptionally inspiring images, I'll be remembering. I'll be counting my blessings, and I'll be smiling!

Without further ado, let's kick off our heels and dive in...

  7. I am going to be following you along this 31 day celebration. I am a survivor! I was diagnosed 2.5 years ago when my kids were 4 months old and 2 years old. For two years I fought for my life - literally, had a 9 month break in all treatment and surgeries and just 2 weeks ago started chemo again :(
    I too have a blog but it's mostly just about my journey as a wife and mommy and how cancer has impacted our lives...for good and bad, and how God sustained us through every single trial and triumph. If you are interested, it's www.kellysjournal2009.blogspot.com

  8. I love that kitchen!!! If I had seen it before getting married, I might have opted to stay single just so I could have a pink kitchen! That was supposed to be a joke, not a slight at my husband ;) Can't wait to see the rest of your posts. I am posting on 31 days of (mostly frugal) date night ideas.

  9. Sharon, I love your sense of humor! That kitchen blew my mind when I saw it. Who would have thought that pink cabinets could look so elegant?! Thanks for stopping by!
